Altitude gearmotor, Oriental Motor Co. Vexta brand stepper motors, 2 phase, high torque model PK264-01A, 1.8 deg/step, 5.7 ohm, 1 amp with holding torque of 54.2 oz/in.  Sky Tracker Controller output voltage boosted to 18.0 VDC to provide adequate torque to drive larger scope   Internal view altitude gearmotor- Three stage reduction utilizing W.M. Berg "zero backlash" chain belts. Gear box made of ABS plastic to mitigate sound of stepper motor vibration.  Noise level just barely audible, even in a "viewing" environment.  Both gearmotors use teflon "spacer" pads between the ABS and the plywood to ensure a very smooth "clutching" action.

The altitude final drive wheel is 1 1/4" OD X 1" wide and made of 65 durometer plastic material   Note larger size last stage drive belt.  Idler used to tension final stage belt.  All shafts mounted in ball bearings.  Final altitude drive ratio is 314.54:1

The azimuth drive output shaft is tempered steel 3/8" rod.  The final drive is a 65 durometer plastic roller 1 1/2" OD X 1" width.  The drive roller contacts the groundboard edge which has 00 grit belt sander material laminated to the surface

Expanded view of the azimuth gearbox interior with the 1" OD ball bearings fitted throughout   Center to center shaft positions very critical to avoid use of idlers.  The final drive ratio on the azimuth gearmotor is 276.7:1 which provides more than ample torque for smooth operation
